Mr. Kaplan, who began contributing to The New Yorker in 1991, appears in the upper left of this screenshot. Following him, clockwise, are co-hosts Paul Nesja, Nicole Chrolavicius, and Beth Lawler. Mr. Kaplan’s most recent book is They Went Another Way: A Hollywood Memoir.

“Giddydown”

The below drawing of mine that originally appeared in The New Yorker in the issue of February 29, 2016 recently showed up on The New Yorker‘s Instagram feed. Was glad to see it again; I remember feeling very much under James Thurber’s spell (more so than usual!) while drawing it. At the time I was in a period of studying his Fables For Our Time drawings. While the Thurber inspiration may or may not be evident, it’s there — not so much the cowboy as in the horse and the caption.
